Naha to receive record number of cruise ships in 2016
According to Naha Port Authority, the number of cruise ship port calls to Naha this year will reach 115 by the end of the year.
In 2016 the number is expected to reach a new record with cruise ships docking at Naha Port a record 169 times. The number of cruise port calls has increased sharply since 2013.
A spokesperson at the Naha Port Authority explained the reason for the increase is that the port can now effectively accept port call reservations without conflicting with the schedule of cargo ships by taking advantage of the special berth and passenger terminal for cruise ships that was completed last year. Consequently, the number of port calls has increased.
Furthermore, the Port Authority is ready to accept even more cruise ship visits.
