Businessman falls to death from 6th floor in Naha

A 27-year-old businessman fell down to his death from the 6th floor of a building in Matsuyama, Naha City, Sunday evening.

According to Naha Police, Daisuke Ikeda, a businessman from Miyahira, Haebaru Town had attended a party in a 6th-floor bar after a friend’s wedding reception, and had gone to smoke in the smoking area on the same floor. A door in the smoking area to the emergency stairwell outside of the building is usually locked but had been opened for airing at the time.

Ikeda was found lying on the ground, bleeding from his head under the stairs, and taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators believe that Ikeda had stepped out of the smoking area through the emergency door, and fell down through a space between the steel fence in the stairs by some kind of mistake. They do not suspect foul play in the case.
