Okiko Co., Ltd, a local bakery company in Nishihara Town, announced that it has reached an agreement with Taiwan FamilyMart Co., to launch a joint company to supply bread to the 3,000 stores of Taiwan FamilyMart.

Taiwan FamilyMart is scheduled to start operating the new factory in January 2017, with Okiko providing technical assistance and know-how to the joint venture. This is the first time for Okiko to tie up with an overseas company.

The new joint company will be set up next February. Taiwan FamilyMart is capitalizing the new company with ¥7.5 billion and Okiko’s share will be ¥50 million.

Okiko has already hired a staff of five people from Taiwan, and provided them with advice on product development and sanitary management of a baking factory.
