Yokai wait for kids at Okinawa World
Yokai Watch is a series of role-playing video games that is currently the most popular anime among Japanese pre-school and elementary school age children the same way Pokemon was before.
The original game was released in Japan in 2013, and was just recently introduced in North America by Nintendo on Nov. 6, this year.
The Yokai Watch game at Okinawa World theme park is a participatory and experience-based event featuring popular Yokai (specters or ghosts) of Yokai Watch that will be present at the event. Attending the game, visitors walk from room to room and meet Yokai’s requests called ‘quest,’ sometimes battle them, and become friends with Yokai.
During the game, participants experience Yokai Watch world through various attractions and tasks like looking for Yokai, collecting balls and playing games. After they clear the missions, they are awarded a nice gift.
In addition to the game, there are many photo shooting spots where participants – and their parents – are able to take a picture with theirr favorite Yokai.
At a Yokai Watch goods corner visitors can purchase many limited-issue goods available at this event only, like a plastic model of Dainyan and Hikariorochi in addition to about 500 different Yokai Watch related products.
