Naha Family Festa focuses on fitness and taste buds
A two-day Naha gourmet event called Naha Meshi takes place for the fifth time this weekend. For this year, organizers have added a new concurrent event aimed at children, called Naha Sports Fest that offers them an experience in four sports in the Budokan Arena in Onoyama, Naha.
The four sports are basketball, handball, volleyball and tag rugby. All participants of the sports fest will get a present. In addition, the Sports Fest has a stamp rally for participants, which rewards them with treats when they bring a completed stamp card and present it at the Naha Meshi event.
The Naha Meshi gourmet event features 25 local restaurants and stores who will compete for the title of the Best in Town with meals of curry, steaks, deep fried local ‘Aguu’ pork (katsu), spring rolls, Aguu BBQ ribs, taco rice, yakisoba, tempura, ramen and more. Besides food, the booths serve alcohol, beer and soft drinks as well.
The Naha Meshi Grand Prix gourmet event takes place from 11:00 to 19:00 on Mar. 12th and 13th at the Onoyama Park Sub Athletic Field. Admission to the event is free, but for food a 1,000-yen ticket is necessary. The food ticket includes a voting ticket as well.
As there is no legal parking areas at the event site, use of paid parking or public transportation is strongly advised.
