Women-only coin laundry shop opens in Naha
Sekaie Co., an operator of restaurants and service businesses, opened Okinawa’s first women-only coin laundry on Apr. 5th.
Named ‘i-Laundry,’ the new store is located in Tabaru, Naha City. To appeal to its female customers, the new shop has a bright-colored interior that emphasizes cleanliness, and the store staff is all female.
The store is located on Route 221 in Naha and open 21 hours a day. The female staff is in the store between 09:00 and 21:00, and after 21:00 users can enter the store using a prepaid member card. It has 10 dryers and 3 washing machines.
To use the paid washing, drying and folding service costs from ¥1,500 up. The company is planning to introduce an app that notifies the customer on their smart phone when the laundry is done.
They are scheduled to open a second store in Uruma City in June, and have plans to manage 20-30 stores throughout the island in the future.
