Yomitan donates ¥10 million to earthquake disaster relief

Yomitan Village has decided to donate ¥10 million to the relief efforts in the earthquake disaster areas of Kumamoto and Oita Prefectures in Kyushu. The donation will be divided evenly between Kumamoto and Oita Prefectures, and the hardest hit communities of Mashiki Town, Nishihara and Minami Aso Villages in Kumamoto. Each will get about ¥2 million.

Yomitan Village Assembly held an extraordinary meeting Apr. 22nd in order to discuss about what they could do to help the disaster areas, and decided to propose the donation in the regular assembly meeting on Apr. 28th.

In the past, Yomitan made the same ¥10 million donation to the Tohoku area when the giant Tohoku earthquake and tsunami disaster hit in 2011.
