Man arrested for breaking Okinawa City Hall window
Okinawa City police arrested a 53-year-old man after he tossed a cement block through a glass window of the Okinawa City Hall on Jun. 24th.
According to police, the man who claims to be self-employed broke the window on the 1st floor of the city hall in the afternoon of Jun. 24. A police officer on security patrol at the premises apprehended the man. The officer was posted at the city hall because it’s one of the early voting locations in the upcoming House of Councilors elections.
The cement block broke one of the city hall Child Development Center windows. The Job Assistance Center office is also using the same area. However, according to office staff, no one was in the room at the time.
Police say that when questioned, the man claimed that police and community officials had somehow “tricked” him.
No one was injured in the incident.
