Japan National Volleyball Association announced Monday the selection of the 12 members of the national team in women’s volleyball in the Rio Olympic Games.

Kotoki Zayasu, a 26-year-old player from Okinawa is included in the team marking the first time for an Okinawan player to be elected in the national women’s team since Kayo Kimura played in the Atlanta Olympics in 1996. She’s the second player ever from Okinawa to play in the national women’s volleyball team in the Olympics.

She’s also the 4th athlete from Okinawa selected to take part in the Rio Olympics in addition to bicycle road racing team’s Yukiya Arashiro and Kouhei Uchima. Yoichi Itokazu will take part in power lifting.

Zayasu went to Agena Elementary School in Uruma City, and played volleyball for Takaesu Junior High School and Chubu Shogyo High School teams. She’s now a member of Hisamitsu Pharmaceuticals volleyball team, one of the most famous corporate sports teams in Japan.
