Okinawan boxer wins OPBF championship

Daigo Higa, a 20-year-old pro-boxer from Urasoe, won the Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) Championship title in a match held at the Kourakuen Hall in Tokyo on July 2nd.

Higa is the former WBC Youth Fly Weight Champion and faced 27-year-old Arden Diale of the Philippines, the reigning OPBF Fly Weight Champion in the title match.

Higa won the match by knockout in the 4th round in 2 minutes and 38 seconds. Higa has kept winning by KOs since his debut pro-match in June 2014, and this was his 10th consecutive win.

Higa knocked Arden down for the first time in the second round with a barrage of body blows. His left hook fell Arden for the second time in the 3ed round, and finally, a left to the body knocked Arden down and out to the full count to 10 in the 4th round.
