Urashiro elementary school girls’ team wins Japan handball title

Urashiro Elementary School Girls’ Handball Club from Urasoe City won the Japan National Elementary School Handball Championship Tournament at Tanabe Central Athletic Gym in Kyoto Prefecture on July 31st.

In the final match, the Urashiro Elemetary team faced Komatsu Junior Handball Club from Ishikawa Prefecture, and Urashiro won the game 22-14. The win marked the second time the Urashiro Elementary School team has won the championship. The school won the tournament for the first time five years ago.

Overall, the Urashiro team win gave Okinawa its 7th elementary school girls’ national handball championship.

Kamimori Elementary School Handball Club from Urasoe City represented Okinawa in the boys’ category in the same tournament, winning 3rd place.
