Children’s Halloween costume contest in Naha tomorrow
October is the month of Halloween, and although Halloween actually is at the end of the month, it has not stopped Okinawa Electric Power Co. and Taiyo-no Ekubo magazine from organizing a Halloween party for kids tomorrow, Oct. 1st. Taiyo-no Ekubo magazine is a free publication specializing in information on child rearing.
The party takes place at Kaeru-pia Naha at 114-1 Asahimachi, Naha City, from 10:00 to 16:00. The admission to the event is free.
At the event, children are given a stamp card that is filled at the event workshops. A magic word at the end of event enters the child in a raffle for gifts from Family Mart and Okinawa Electric Power Co..
The event also features cooking lesson for making crepes and ice cream. Participation in the lessons is limited to 50 persons each. Advance reservations are required on the Japanese language website.
Other workshops include playing games and making crafts. And when the tykes get hungry, there’s curry, steamed meat and sausages to eat.
The event includes Halloween costume flea market where one can either sell a child’s Halloween costume that has become too small, or buy a used one at a very reasonable price. All the money from the flea market goes to Kumamoto prefecture to help in the rebuilding efforts after the recent earthquake there.
A children’s Halloween costume contest accepts entries until 11:00. After the contest, there’s a picture taking session and voting for the best costume. The winner is announced on stage at 14:00.
