Four houses destroyed by fire in Mihara, Naha

A fire in the Mihara district of Naha City destroyed four private and vacant houses around noon on Monday.

An emergency call reporting smoke from the houses from a nearby resident alerted police and the fire department, who rushed to the scene. Firefighters extinguished the fire about two hours later. No one was in any of the houses when the fire occurred. Naha Police is investigating the cause.

According to Naha Police, the fire started from a single-story wooden house, and spread to houses next door. Four houses with a total floor space of about 195 square meters were destroyed.

Houses are densely packed in the area, and the possible fire easily spreads from house to house.
