Orix Real Estate is starting today the construction of a new hotel with 160 rooms in the “Fisherina Ward” next to Hilton Okinawa Chatan Resort in Mihama, Chatan Town. The hotel is scheduled to open in the summer of 2018.

Although the brand name of the new hotel has not been officially announced, knowledgeable sources say it would be Double Tree by Hilton, the third Double Tree hotel on Okinawa in addition to the one in Higashimachi, Naha City, and the second in Shuri.

“Fisherina Ward” is developing to be the biggest resort area in Chatan Town. Including the existing facilities and the one that Orix Real Estate is building, the ward will have six hotels with about 980 rooms in total.

The new hotel will be a 5-story building with 160 rooms, 60% with an ocean view. The hotel will have a 5.5-meter high lounge, outdoor swimming pool, and two-story restaurant with a rooftop bar. The site area is about 1.14ha, and the total floor space of the hotel will be about 11,100 square meters. Obayashi Gumi will be the main contractor responsible for the construction.

Orix Real Estate purchased the land of Hilton Okinawa Chatan Resort and Fisherina Ward at the same time. They decided to construct the new hotel since the business in the area is good.
