Two teens injured in crash after police chase
A motorcycle chased by police crashed into a car at noon on Wednesday in Makiminato, Urasoe, after the bike made a turn on the oncoming traffic lane.
According to Prefectural Police, two teenage boys were riding on a motorcycle when a police tried to stop them after a traffic rule violation. The driver of the motorcycle failed to stop, and a police officer on a motorcycle gave a chase and the escaping bike collided with a car.
A 16-year-old boy driving the bike suffered a broken leg and a head injury, and a man, aged 17, who was riding on the back seat, suffered a skull fracture and other injuries on his head. Both were taken to a hospital. The driver of the car was not injured.
Police say that the officer on the motorcycle followed all the rules pertaining to a chase, and in no way contributed to the accident.
