15-year-old girl arrested for DUI on motorbike

Naha Police arrested a 15-year-old junior high school girl Sunday in Naha, on suspicion of driving a motorbike under influence of alcohol.

According to Naha Police, about twice the legal limit of alcohol in her breath was detected in a breathalyzer test.

The high school girl is suspected of driving a motorbike under the influence of alcohol on a road in Wakasa, Naha City, around 10 a.m. on Sunday. Naha Police received a call reporting two people riding on a motorbike without helmets, and a police patrol sent to the scene found and stopped the two.

The girl driver saw the police car at an intersection, and tried to make a U-turn but fell down. A 15-year-old junior high school girl was on the back seat of the bike. The girls tried to escape, but the police soon caught and stopped them. Neither of the girls were injured.

When questioned, the female driver of the motorbike has reportedly said, “I don’t know.” Naha Police are trying to figure out the owner of the motorbike.
