One man dies and another was seriously hurt in two separate traffic accidents that occurred on Thursday.

According to Urasoe Police, a light wagon hit the centerline and turned over on a national road in Nishihara, Urasoe City, about 2:30 a.m. on Thursday. The driver of the car, 34-year-old Tadashi Tamashiro, was taken unconscious to a hospital where he died of cerebral contusion.

A 29-year-old woman riding in the same car suffered bruises on the back and right thigh. Her injuries were not life threatening.

Another traffic accident occurred in the same morning around 6 a.m. at Higashi, Okinawa City, when a 64-year-old man crossing the road was hit by a light car.

The victim was taken unconscious to a hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
