Cruise Liner “Genting Dream” makes first visit to Okinawa

“Genting Dream,” one of the largest premium cruise ships in Asia, weighing 153,000 tons and with passenger capacity of 3,400 people, docked at Naha Port for the in first time at 3:30 p.m. on Apr. 4th. It was also her first visit to Japan.

The ship brought about 2,700 passengers from China and Hong Kong for a visit to Okinawa, who toured tourist facilities on the island Okinawa and went shopping at Kokusai Street in Naha.

The cruise ship left just after midnight heading to Miyako Island, her next port of call.

From now on, the ship is scheduled to make port calls at Naha and Miyako’s Hirara a total of 28 times until October on cruises from her homeports of Hong Kong and Guangzhou, China.

The owner of Genting Dream is Dream Cruises, a subsidiary of Genting Hong Kong. The ship was built in Germany by Meyer Werft, and made its maiden voyage in November 2016.

The company sells six-day/five night cruise packages starting from Hong Kong or Guangzhou taking a swing through Okinawa and Miyako, starting from about ¥60,000.
