Arcade Resort Okinawa Hotel & Café open in Okinawa City

The Arcade Resort Okinawa Hotel & Café, a facility built in renovated vacant stores in the Ichibankan shopping arcade in Okinawa City, and managed by a nonprofit organization “Koza Machisyachu,” held an opening ceremony, Monday.

The hotel has a total of 11 rooms. On the second floor, there are two large rooms ideal for groups. On the third floor, there are nine rooms, including Japanese style rooms, divided into rooms only for women and only for men. There is a café on the first floor that is open to public.

Storeowners of the shopping arcade plan to prepare hands-on learning programs to make the hotel & cafe a sort of community center. The café offers lunch menus during the day, and becomes a bar at nights.

Target customers are foreign tourists from Asian countries like Taiwan and South Korea, domestic tourists and local residents who come to Okinawa City for events, such as sports training camps.

A subsidy from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry was used to finance the renovation. The hotel room charges start from ¥4,000 a night per person. For inquiries, call Arcade Resort Okinawa at 098-988-7666. Their website is in Japanese, English and Chinese.
