Vehicle fire causes traffic jam in Naha
A car caught fire while traveling on national road 330 at an intersection near Okinawa Urban Monorail Omoromachi Station Sunday afternoon. The fire was extinguished in 20 minutes, but the incident caused a temporary traffic jam on the national road 330. Three passengers in the car were not injured.
According to an eyewitness, when the car traveling towards Urasoe stopped at a traffic signal, a fire suddenly exploded from under the hood. All passengers in the car rushed out and in about 5 minutes, the fire spread to the rest of the vehicle.
Reportedly, the car had not been in good condition, and its engine had broken down many times.
Officials at the Naha Fire Department are investigating the incident.
