Okinawa Fruit Land to add lodging facility in 2018
Okinawa Fruit Land will construct a condo type hotel “Rietta Nakayama” on its premises in Nago. The new facility is scheduled to open in October 2018.
The hotel will have 40 rooms and can accommodate up to 368 guests. Two types of rooms will be available, both more than 60 square meters in size. The aim is to market the hotel to families or group guests from in and out of Japan. The investment is reportedly about ¥1.3 billion.
The hotel building will be 9 stories high, with 4,635 square meters of total floor space. Of the two types of rooms, 24 up to 10 guests with 84.28 square meters of space, and 16 rooms that can accommodate up to 8 guests with 63.32 square meters of space. Each room is equipped with a kitchen, clothes washer and dryer, and a refrigerator. The living rooms have tatami mat floors to give them a Japanese style suite ambience. The hotel will be managed by Joy, a real estate company in Chatan.
Hiroki Asato, the president of Okinawa Fruit Land, says the reason of his company entering in the hotel business is, “There are few hotels in the northern Okinawa area, and most visitors must go back to hotels in the middle Okinawa even if they spend most of their time here. We would like to solve the essential problem of tourism in the northern part of the island, and increase longer stays.”
The Okinawa Fruit Land has restaurants, gift shops, convenience stores, and foreign exchange on their premises. In 2014 the company started a new experimental attraction called the “Tropical Kingdom Story”.
