The ‘Ritou Fair’ puts Focus on the Outer Islands

A three-day annual fair called the ‘Ritou Fair’ opens Friday, November 15th at the Okinawa Cellular Stadium Naha at Onoyama Park in Naha City. Its mission is to promote products, health & beauty, and tourism from 18 communities belonging to the outer islands of Okinawa. The fair will run through Sunday, November 17th.

Before hitting the outer islands, come check out some of the items and products the local islands have to offer first. May make your trip a smoother one.

Foods, traditional performing arts, tourism, businesses opportunities, and specialty products will be the focus at this 3-day event. For those who had never had the chance to see the outer islands, this is an excellent opportunity to see and learn what they have to offer.
The 18 participating communities include those from Miyako, Ishigaki Cities; Motobu, Taketomi, Yonaguni and Kumejima Towns; and Tarama, Iheya, Ie, Aguni, Tonaki, Zakimi, North and South-Daito, and Tokashiki Villages.

The respective communities will have booths and displays to showcase their locally made products, which will all be for sale. Additionally, stage performances will take place throughout the three days. These performances will represent the local traditional arts and music found in each community.

The fair runs from 10:00 to 19:00 on Friday and Saturday, and 10:00 to 18:00 on Sunday. There is no parking at the Cellular Stadium, but temporary parking will be available at the Naha Military Port with free shuttle buses running from the parking area to the stadium.
