Resort hotels and condominiums appealing to a wide range of pocketbooks are popping up in the Mihama district of Chatan Town.

Ten years ago there were no hotels in Mihama, and now there are a half-dozen operating or preparing to in the near future.  The Beach Tower Okinawa was the first to open a decade ago, followed by Vessel Campana Okinawa, and the Hilton Okinawa Chatan Resort this summer being the latest.

Construction is under way or in final preparation stages for three other hotels in Mihama.. Agima, the company managing ‘Rinken Band’ is building its first hotel, tentatively named ‘Condominium Mihama Hotel’ in Mihama, and planned to open next February.  They are targeting families and long-stay customers at low prices, targeted at under ¥10,000 per night.  The facility will have mostly ocean view rooms, and all will have kitchens

The burgeoning demand for hotels, resorts and extended stay facilities is being driven by not only a strong domestic tourism market, but also an increasing traffic from other Asian countries.  In the  Mihama area alone, the total number of guest rooms will quadruple this next year, while
