The new so called ‘OKICA’ service that replaces the old ticket system for Naha Urban Monorail went into effect from Oct. 20.

In the fist phase automatic ticket machines at Naha Airport Station were replaced to start the new service.  By Oct. 30^th, all ticket machines at the 15 monorail stations will be switched to the new version, and next April, the OKICA card machines will be installed in local buses of all four bus companies on Okinawa.

OCICA system incorporates two kinds of tickets, an IC card type and QR code type, and both tickets are used touching a reader at automatic ticket gates.  Consequently, the service with the old coupon and magnetic tickets will be discontinued from Oct. 30.  The new IC-type cards are sold in denominations of ¥1,000 and up.
