Chatan Town officials say that they have resolved the mystery of red liquid that was reported running out from a drainpipe into a canal at American Village in Mihama, Chatan Town, on Apr. 5th.

Town officials say that they have determined that they have identified the red liquid to be water-based paint from painting work at Sunset Beach. The town government has issued a warning to the company that is contracted to do maintenance work on the beach.

According to the beach administrator, in the morning on Apr. 5th, a maintenance staff member who painted a high chair for lifeguards on the beach had washed his paintbrush in a hand washing basin outside of the beach toilet building.

According to town officials the paint is causing no harm to the environment.
