Kadena’s Friday Hawaiian Party promises fun

It’s a lot more than Aloha as the Air Force’s 18th Force Support Squadron “brings the Hawaiian Islands to you” tomorrow afternoon and evening.

The five-hour Ho’olaule’a party takes place on the green at the Chibana Recreation Area is free, and open to everyone. From food, beer and beverages, to live entertainment by ‘The Green’, Konishiki, a Hawaiian entertainer and former sumo wrestler, to hula dancers and fire knife dancers, there’s something planned for the entire family.

The festivities begin from 5 p.m. ~ 6 p.m. with the Ohana Hour, the kids hour. There’s even a Kiddieland on site. Starting at 6 p.m., tomorrow. Halau Hui Nohona Aloha & Na Pua o Keko olani Halau perform. At 7 p.m., The Green’s on stage, followed at 8 p.m. with a two-hour presentation by Konishiki & Fire Knife Dancers.

Food and beverages will be available on site for purchase. Yen and dollars will be accepted. Shuttle bus services run from 4 p.m. ~ 11 p.m. On-site parking is limited, so free shuttles will run from the Kadena Marina, Karing Kennels, Shima No Ko SAP, Rocker NCO Club and the Shilling Community Center parking lots.
