Okinawan player selected for Japan National Women’s Soccer Team

Okinawa-born Ryoko Takara was selected to play for Japan’s National Women’s Soccer Team known as ‘Nadeshiko Japan’ in the EAFF East Asian Cup taking place in Wuhan, China, in August.

The Japan Football Association announced Jul. 21st the names of the 23 members of Japan’s national female squad that will represent Japan in Wuhan. The 25-year-old Okinawan defender currently plays for Vegalta Sendai that plays in Japan’s women’s soccer league. Takara was born in Okinawa and went Oroku-Minami Elementary School in Naha, and continued at Kamimura-Gakuen Junior High and High Schools in Kagoshima.

This is Takara’s second time as a member of Nadeshiko Japan since 2013.
