Teenage boy dies in motorbike accident

A 15-year-old boy died when he hit his head on the road after a 125cc motorbike he was riding with two other teenagers hit a road curb and fell down about midnight Saturday.

In addition to the 15-year-old, a 14-year-old girl and a 12-year-old elementary school boy were injured in the accident. All three had been riding on the same bike. The accident took place on Highway 58 at Yamada, Onna Village.

A passerby who saw the accident made the emergency call. The 15-year-old boy hit his head and was transferred to a hospital in a state of cardiac arrest, where he was confirmed dead about an hour later. The 14-year-old girl broke her right collarbone, and the 12-year-old boy had minor scratches. Both escaped serious injury but the girl is still hospitalized. Ishikawa Police suspect that the bike hit the road curb, and are investigating which one of the three was the driver. They also plan to file charges pending the result of their investigation.

According to police, the road at the site of the accident has two lanes each way and curves slightly to the left with a good view. The bike apparently hit the curb and fell down while the teens were driving from Nakadomari towards Kadena. Reportedly, only two helmets were left on the site.

According to police, the bike belongs to the 15-year-old boy’s family. Police plan to interview the two victims after they recover.
