Marine arrested for having ammunition in his bag

A Marine Corporal winding up a three-year tour on Okinawa ran afoul of the Japanese Firearm and Sword Control Law, which prohibits keeping ammunition in his personal property.

Corporal Cornelius Exebia Grier Jr., assigned to Camp Kinser, was charged with having a round of ammunition in his bag. Grier has admitted to the charge, acknowledging that the ball cartridge is his property. He had the ball cartridge in the pocket of his backpack at the baggage check station at Naha Airport.

Officials say Grier had finished his military tour in Okinawa, and was en route home to the U.S. when he was arrested by Tomigusuku Police.
