Three Kings and a coach make All-Star Squad

The Ryukyu Golden Kings are to be well represented at the upcoming Basketball Japan League All-Star Game next month in Tokyo.

Head Coach Kohto Tohyama has been chosen to coach the Western Conference squad in the two-game series January 19th and 20th at Tokyo’s Ariake Colosseum.  Three Ryukyu Golden Kings have been chosen to play in the games; Anthony McHenry, Tsubasa Yonamine and Narito Namizato will represent Okinawa in the annual event.

“I really appreciate the pleasure as head coach,” says Koto Tohyama.  “I’m proud and appreciate what our fans do to support us.  It’s really a rare opportunity.”  Veteran Anthony McHenry thanks “all fans who voted for me, because I know the opportunity doesn’t exist without your voting.  I will play an exciting game,” he promises.

Tsubasa Yonamine says he really appreciates fans who give him the opportunity.  “It’s my first time to play an All Star Game”, he says, “so I will enjoy playing with great members, and will play my best on the court to show basketball to the audience.”  For Narito Namizato, it’s the second trip to Ariake Colosseum for an All Star contest.  “I’ll enjoy playing,” he says, “ and will try to show my best performance to the audience, and then I will come back to Okinawa with new skills or playing styles picked up from great players.”
