Woman held on hit-and-run charges

Yonabaru Police arrested a 33-year-old female company employee in Yonabaru district of Yonabaru Town on suspicion of causing a hit-and-run accident.

Police say Nagisa Miyagi is held on charges of violating the Road Traffic Law for failing to aid a victim of a traffic accident, and promptly report the accident, and for negligent driving resulting in an injury on Dec. 3 because. Investigators say Miyagi hit a 57-year-old man who was walking on a road in Yonabaru, and then escaped from the site of the accident.

The victim was seriously injured requiring one month to heal. His injuries include a crush wound on his left knee and left cheek that he suffered when he fell.

The arrest charge states that Miyagi’s car hit the man who was running on the road at 10:55 p.m. on Dec. 2, and although the accident caused injuries, Miyagi didn’t stop to aid him.
