Okito Taxi introduces taxi ordering app for smartphones

Okito Kotsu Cooperative Association, also known as Okito Taxi Group, has introduced an application for requesting a taxi from a smart phone starting the 10th of January.

To use his or her smart phone to get a ride, the caller needs to download the “All Japan Taxi Dispatch” application, which is operated by Nihon Kotsu in Tokyo, and utilized by 76 taxi companies in 40 prefectures.

Okito Kotsu is the first taxi company in Okinawa to introduce the system that is available for Naha, Urasoe, Ginowan, Nishihara and Onna areas, currently covering a total of six cities, four towns and three villages.

The system finds the caller using GPS, and pinpoints the location where the customer wants the taxi to come, and connects the information to the nearest available taxi.

The application available to install to iPhones, Android and Windows phones for free. The application is available for download at http://www.okito.or.jp/taxi-haisya-annai.html, but only in Japanese.
