Thief nabbed after ¥5 million jewelry heist
Uruma Police arrested a 38-year-old man, Jan. 10, on charges of stealing rings and other valuables from a jewelry shop in Taba, Uruma City.
Investigators describe Tsukasa Shimabukuro as a habitual thief with previous convictions. They say that this time he stole 120 items including rings and necklaces worth a total of ¥5 million. Investigators are grilling Shimabukuro about details of the crime but for now he has kept silent, and refused to answer police questions.
According to the police, Shimabukuro broke in and stole the loot from the shop between 9:30 p.m. Oct. 10 and 8 a.m. on Oct. 11 last year.
