A call to Okinawa City emergency number reached the city Fire Department Sunday sfternoon informing the firefighters that the second floor of a private house appeared to be on fire in the Miyazato district of Okinawa City.

A total of 15 fire engines and police patrol cars responded to the scene. The foirefighters managed to put the fire down about three and half hours later, but both the house and a shed next to it were totally destroyed.

Acccording to the fire department, a man in his 80’s and his son, who is said to be in his 40’s were in the house when the fire broke out, but neither was inured. Police says it seems the fire broke out in the shed, and then spread over to the house. Police are still investigating the cause of the fire.
