The lucky winner of this week’s Japan Update raffle is Raquel Diaz, who won a pair of tickets to the next Ryukyu Golden Kings basketball home game.

Raquel is from San Diego, California, and has lived on Okinawa two years, and has one year left as she and her family are scheduled to leace in Apr. 2014.

She says this has been one of her favorite places to live. “I love fresh sushi. It’s absolutely my favorite local food here,” she states.  Her other favorites regarding the island are the beaches although se also finds castle sites and parks quite interesting.

She adds that she finds Japan Update very useful for getting information on local events and news. “Being not able to read Japanese, there is not much information available on local matters on a regular basis,” she concludes.
