ANA Holdings considering maintenance hub for Naha Airport

ANA Holdings Co. announced they are considering establishing an aircraft maintenance company at Naha Airport. ANA officials say that as the aviation market in the Asia region expands, and ANA is already running an international air cargo business hub office at Naha Air Port, they are now considers to start planning the concept in 2013, with an eye of starting the operation step by step in 2014, and the main business in 2015.

ANA is currently doing such maintenance business at Haneda and Narita airports for large and medium-size aircraft, and at Itami Airport for medium and small aircraft, and but according to a company spokesman they have not yet envisioned what would be the function for Naha.

Earlier this year Okinawa Prefecture started a research to the viability of the Naha Airport for a aircraft maintenance facility, and JTA (Japan TransOcean Air, a subsidiary of JAL) has also approached the prefecture with a similar idea.
