Bashofu Exhibition starts

“Bashofu Then and Now” exhibition has started on Sep. 27th at Okinawa Times Gallery, in the Kumoji district of Naha City.

Bashohu is a type of textile woven from fibers of the Japanese banana plant. Items in the exhibition include ancient bashofu from Kume and Amami Islands reconstructed with modern technology. Bashofu made in Kijoka, Ogimi Village from the Meiji Era (1868-1912), and other 81 items will be on display.

The exhibition is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (until 5 p.m. on Sundays). The entry fee is \1,000.
