Okinawa’s Nemo wins 3rd prize in Montreal International Mosaïculture 2013

Motobu Town announced Okinawa Churashima Foundation entered the Montreal International Mosaïculture 2013 event held in Montreal, Canada, in September.

Mosaiculture is a refined horticultural art that involves creating and mounting living artworks made primarily from plants with colorful foliage (generally annuals, and occasionally perennials).

Mosaïculture sculpture is constructed with a steel frame that’s covered by a metal trellis in the shape of the final sculpture. The structure is then enveloped with a soil-impregnated netting into which each seedling, specially cultivated for mosaïculture, is planted by hand.

In the event, Okinawa presented a creation called the “Small Clownfish and Anemone” that won the 3rd prize in the international category.
