Eyeglasses retailer Owndays to open shop in Okinawa
Major eyeglasses company Owndays that has a chain of 120 stores in and out of Japan has established a fully owned subsidiary Owndays Ryukyu in Naha City to open and operate Owndays stores in Okinawa, with an eye of further expanding to southeast Asia.
Okinawa’s fist Owndays store is scheduled to open in Naha right after the New Year holidays. The company plans to open a total of 11 stores in Okinawa, and expand step by step throughout Southeast Asia with Owndays Ryukyu as the base for the Southeast Asia expansion.
According to Owndays spokesman, “Okinawa will be the first district concentrate so many stores. There are plenty of young human resources here, too. Okinawa is also the closest location to the Southeast Asian countries, and we will make a special effort for this venture.”
