The National Japanese abacus (soroban) League held the All Japan Soroban championship competition in October.

Okinawa Shogakuen Junior High School won first place in the junior high school division. The participating students were third-year junior high school student Yuma Chinen, first-year Yurina Chinen and Karin Okubo, also a also first year student. They were the top from a total of 247 teams (1,636 students) who participated in the competition.

The champions were awarded their diplomas and trophy on Dec. 5th.
