Cruise ship with 2,200 Chinese tourists visits Naha
An Italian large cruise ship Costa Atlantica entered Naha Port, Wednesday morning with some 2,200 passengers onboard. The cruise was a round trip from Shanghai exclusively for Chinese tourists.
Once ashore, the tourists had a bus tour to DFS in Naha and the American Village in Chatan to enjoy sightseeing and shopping. Managing Director Ken Hirata of Okinawa Tourist Service (OTS) International Division organized the bus tour. He explained that the number of Chinese tourists to Okinawa had a sharp drop after the Senkaku Islands dispute arose. “The number of visitors from China might still be less than before because of the Senkaku Islands issue, but we can expect that to change in the future,” Hirata said.
