Over 120,000 rode Yui-rail during New Year holiday
The number of passengers riding on the monorail during the New Year holiday Jan 1st through 3rd set a new record of 126,000. That is 3.8% increase from a year ago.
On Jan. 1st in the fine weather the count was 43,140, or 7.6% more than last year, on the 2nd 46,888 took the monorail, an increase of 7.5%, and on the 3rd that was a rainy day, the count was 36,471 which is 4.3% less than last year.
Okinawa Urban Monorail Transportation Division Senior Chief Masaki Oshiro said, “The increase of tourists and good weather influenced these results. Tourists from overseas are certainly increasing. Riding the monorail, you can see shrines and temples and don’t have to worry about the traffic.”
