Teacher suspended for physically punishing student

Okinawa Board of Education suspended a 29-year-old Naha City junior high school teacher, Wednesday, for physically punishing a student. The suspension is for 44 days.

According to official investigation, the teacher was found to have punched, kicked and thrown the student around because he was fooling around and not practicing club activities. The student injured his finger during the altercation,.

According to the Board of Education Superintendent, “Physical punishment will not be tolerated or forgiven. We will do all in our power to eliminate this kind of behavior, and once again gain public’s trust on our educational system.”
