50+ bands helping celebrate St. Patrick’s on Chuo Park Avenue

Green and kilts take over the Chuo Park Avenue to the tune of bagpipes Saturday afternoon to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.

The luck of the Irish is set to begin happening a bit earlier than St. Patrick’s Day as the Okinawa City community begins celebrating with festivities and a parade on Saturday.

The III MEF Marching Band will lead the parade.

The III Marine Expeditionary Force Band, bagpipes, and plenty of green will lead a parade down Chuo Park Avenue beginning at 3 p.m. Saturday. More than 50 bands and entertainers will perform throughout the whole afternoon and evening of festivities along the Chuo Park Avenue starting 2 p.m. and running through 8 p.m.  Six stages have been set up for the performances across the popular avenue, all part of both a quarterly event sponsored by area businesses and the St. Patrick’s Day.

Performing on the Sideways Stage will be D + D, O.F.F., Shima Blues Band and Toyoda Band.  The Bar SIX Stage has The Rodeos, All Japan Goith, Nuan Heso Dansei, Seven Noisy Ghosts, BOOMER, TOKUJI, NAKAIMA and Lemonade.  Featured on the My Room Stage will be doudou, Dempa Boys,

Everyone is invited to dress in green.

Combustibles and MAKERS.

The Dance & Performance Stage will have Butokukan Karate, Dance Studio G-1, Dance Studio 123, Uchi Pafu, What’s Up Akemi Dance School and Mina Zumba, while the Player’s Café Stage provides entertainment by Enhancement Factor, 777, SINGETU, Sukuglas and BRIGHT’N’HIGH.
