Ginoza Fair weekend of inclusivity

Ginoza Village showcases its best this weekend.

The public benefits this weekend as the Ginoza Fair brings together the Ginoza Village Industrial Festival and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Festival.

As Ginoza is one of the handful of locations on Okinawa to grow strawberries, children’s strawberry eating contest id a given.

The Saturday and Sunday event at Mirai Ginoza Open Space, 1633 Kana, Ginoza Village, runs 10 a.m. ~ 8 p.m. both days.  Admission is free.  The first day will open with an Eisa performance followed by the opening ceremony. Performances from local elementary school samisen, Garaman Kids street dance, tuna cutting, strawberry-eating contest and much more are scheduled to be on stage.

On Sunday, visitors can enjoy flamenco dances, karaoke contests, live performances from Kata-Kana and other performers. One of the highlights is the BMX exhibition by Hisato Yamashiro.

Children are the future, so children’s entertainment is a priority at Ginoza Fair.

There will also be raffles on both days, and spectators will see the biggest pumpkin, enjoy sight-seeing boat rides which are free of charge, starting at 1 p.m. There will be a total of three rides on the first day of the event, at 2 p.m., 3 p.m., and 4 p.m. On Sunday rides begin at 11 a.m., and the rides will begin every hour starting at noon for a total of five times. Visitors can also explore inside the Matsuda Cave or experience kayak riding. Of course there will be many stands to enjoy the tasty local cuisine including the famous Ginoza Burger. Also available will be fresh vegetables, fruits and plants for sale.
