Japan Airlines announced Mar, 26 that they would hike their ticket prices during the period from Jul. 4^th through Oct. 25^th on domestic flights by about 1.5% compared to last year.

This marks the first time in six years since the company has increased the ticket prices on domestic flights. As the main reason, the company cites the fall of the yen exchange rate and the subsequent rise of the fuel costs.

The consolidated net profit of JAL in March 2015, saw a 22% fall from last year, which the company officials say necessitated the price hike. The rise of fuel prices may be affecting the bottom lines of other airline companies, and analysts predict that other airlines might follow suit.
