Japanese MSDF training ships heading to Ishigaki

Three Japanese Marine Self Defense Force training ships and one escort are scheduled to head to Ishigaki Island on Mar. 31st for exercises.

This is the first time for Japanese MSDF training ships to sail off to an outer Okinawan island. The Abe administration is aiming to strengthen defenses around its southern islands because of ongoing disputes with China.

The ships are scheduled to stay in the area through Apr. 2nd.
