Chinese ships once again venture into the Senkakus

Only days after U.S. President Barack Obama promised Japan he’d support this Asian nation against anyone messing with it, China responded by sending a pair of its Coast Guard ships to tiptoe into waters around the Senkaku Islands.

The Chinese ships had been noticeably absent from the waters surrounding the disputed islands since April 12th.  For months the Chinese and Japanese have been sparring with each other around the five uninhabited East China Sea islands in southwestern Okinawa Prefecture.  This time the two Chinese ships ventured a dozen miles into Japanese territorial Islands.

President Obama on Thursday had promised Japan the U.S. would defend Japan if the Chinese were to lash out at the Senkaku Islands, or take any action against Japan.
