Yasuhiro Makishi was on a hunt for habu snakes to use to make habu sake on Monday when he caught one.

What he did not expect was the surprise when he opened the poisonous snake and discovered four baby Yambaru Kuinas inside its stomach.

“I have been hunting habus for about 30 years, but this is first time I have seen anything like this,” Makishi said.

The snake was about two meters long. Makishi says he would use his catch to make habu sake as he had intended, but would give the remains of the birds to the Ministry of Environment to study.
