Nakama wins weekend Kin mayoral election

Former Superintendent of Education Hajime Nakama won the Kin Town mayoral election, Sunday.

The contest was close between the two candidates vying for the mayor’s seat after the incumbent Tsuyoshi Gibu decided to retire. In the election, 59-year-old Nakama got 6,598 votes, 802 votes more than his challenger, 65-year-old Tamotsu Ginoza. Both candidates ran as independents without official backing from any political parties.

After winning the election, Nakama stated his ambition, “I will carefully listen to the residents’ thoughts, and continue to promote our town development.”
